Finally, from last week, and this week, the clicks from Google Adwords platform has been over 100 per day.

What does 100click/day mean? In August, when I first time saw this Adwards account, the traffic for the whole week are 57 clicks. Over 10 times in 3 months. It seems that all the efforts we’ve done for CWW (http://www.challengesworldwide.com/) online campaigns work on their way.
Now, I am thinking about how my work on Google PPC and CWW’s business in relevant. Hannah told me that we got more applicants this month. But still I want to know how many applicants are generated by Googe Ads directly. The target of CWW is searching for the proper professional people to participant its project in developing countries. Actually, I do not know how and why these applicants got know CWW, from referring link? Google Ads, or recommend by friends? Who knows?
Another question is that why did they choose CWW? If they have more than one choice in their mind, why they choose CWW finally? Which aspect of CWW attracts them?
If I know the answers of the all the above questions, I think I could do these works with strong purpose of targeting the particular group. To add more campaigns on Google or post more position on Linkedin?

Yep, we applied the account and try to edit the page for CWW.
…
…
…
Two days later, I found that our account is blocked for editing because of spam issue. It sounds like a joke for me.

Now my question is that whether Wiki help the SEO issues? Why CWW’s competitor holds its Wiki page but not blocked for editing?

Yep, I will go back to hometown next month, Now, I start to count the days. 31, 30, 29……Can not wait to enjoy the delicious foods and share wonderful night time with friends.

But before enjoying the holiday, I need to accomplish the work in Edinburgh first. I have submitted a proposal which include three joint power allocation and AMC transmission schemes for relay enhanced Power Line Communications to my supervisor. Hope I can got a positive response from my supervisor, thus, I can prepare to write the paper for the conference in 2010.

The next issue in Edinburgh is CWW. Fortunately, the Google Adwords data and Google Analytics data show that all the activities we’ve done for the online issues for CWW (www.challengesworldwide.com) seem positive. H is keeping updating the blog and posting jobs on Linkedin and Charity Jobs diligently. For me, the new campaigns added for PPC and modification of the description lines work as the restless ants. I believe the traffic from PPC will beyond 400 this week (the average traffic per week in Sept. and Oct. are 200, and about 60 clicks/week in Aug.).

Now, H and I are working on the link strategy making issues. Hope this new action will help us generate more clicks for CWW. As a charity body, to attract the people’s eye is not that easy. Especially, CWW operate do not charge its local partners. All the cost should be covered by volunteers themselves (why do I have to pay). How to persuade people to believe the participant is good for them is a big obstacle for us. Also a big difficulty for link request. Let’s see what will happen after the link strategy is done.

BTW, hope the mew sitemap could be work normally this week.

To be or not to be, it is not a problem for me. Coz I did not write anything on both blogs for two weeks.
But I never stop thinking about the SEO issue for CEE (www.challengesworldwide.com). During this period, I investigated the competitors’ website. To my surprise, the result is really different from what we assumed before.
Let introduce how I got the information of our competitor first. For anyone, he can view www.keywordspy.com. One can get a free trial account to get competitor’s key words (Organic words and PPC words), its most competitive websites, and Ads position by simply type in the domain name of the competitor.
Then, here, I will state the unique features of CWW’s competitors.

1. Our competitors are not all work hard on online marketing issues. For example, only 30% percent of them have the PPC keywords. It means that only 30% of them are using the keywords management platform such as google adwords, to bid their website.

2. Their some websites, such as Gumtree, facebook, become our most competitive online opponents, though they do not have any commonalities with ChallengesWorldwide on the operational level.

3. Some portal website such as transitionsabroad.com, volunteermatch.org, and volunteerabroad.com who provide the services for gap year planning, overseas volunteering opportunities, and travel planning are more competitive than the website who just focus on the charity issues.
The above are the features of CWW’s online competitor. The next thing for me is to think about how to fight with them online.

Last week I told my GF that both the work in CWW and IDCOM (www.challengesworldwide.com) become more interesting. But what does the word “more interesting” mean? It means tougher and tougher. Last Friday night, I wrote on the blog that I project for the German guy was coming to an end, but the fact is that lots of new problems appeared, such as merging sorting method for odd input entries, how many sorting modules are needed in the x-best sequence module, and how to calculate the delay and throughput for a particular algorithm, bla, bla, bla…

The same thing happened on the work for CWW. I thought that the traffic from Google Adwords increased by 40% could be a great progress, and the following work is just to duplicate the previous work. But now there are two documents in my hand: the first one is the consulting report from “SEO Consult”, the second one is the suggestion from the SEO guy who I met few weeks ago.

Both of these two documents indicate that the more I’ve done I more I need to do. For example, I add the new key word on the Adwords campaign (how much? Hundreds of or thousands of), Yep these keywords brought lots of traffic in the last few weeks. But, I still not so clear which kid of the key words brought the most traffic. Thus, I need to download the report of Adwords and make summary find out the most effective ones and find out the law of making new keywords.

Another example is that I start to post blog on WP (wordpress), and build link between homepage, bolgs and social networks… but the problems are how to evaluate the result of the blogs, how to track the links and evaluate the effects of the link……

OK, calm down, read documents after research work, and make plan, be patient. Rome was not built in a day. A blooming of traffic can not be achieved in one night.

A tough and busy week!

Finally, the model building and resource statistics work is coming to an end. To built model for 6X6 64QAM QRD-M and 8X8 64QAM QRD-M MIMO Detection algorithm on Xilinx Virtex5 SX240t FPGA. Now I just wan to say — ¬!”£$%^&*())(*&^%$£”!¬$%^%$£”!¬$£.

What is MIMO?

Multiple-Input and Multiple-Output, which now has been use in WiMAX system, is a promising technology that will be widely used in the future wireless communications system. No matter, mobile network, Wifi, WLAN…

Multiple means more than one transmit antenna, one receive antenna that employed for communicating. More antennas means higher data transmission rate and more possible applications on mobile. More applications means more money for operators, SPs and developers. Of course, developers often got the lest part of all the money .

6I6O or 8I8O? This means nothing to you. Who wanna a mobile with 6 or 8 antennas? It is not a mobile, it is comb haha.

What is QRD-M?

It is hard to explanation in two or three sentences. Just remember it is a method to receive (some time we use the word “detect” instead) signal in the MIMO system. Often the knowledge of Matrix Theory is required, and QRD is a method to decomposition a channel matrix which is used for demonstrate the wireless data channel of the MIMO system. M means how many path need to be reserved in each search level.

What is QAM?

A modulation method for the purpose of mapping the data to a constellation chart. Constellation? Believe me, it is not as beautiful as the scene when you rise head in the night.

The similarity between the MIMO detecting and SEO is that they are about search. MIMO detecting is to search (sometime the word “calculate” is more proper) for among a mess of noisy signals. SEO is to make my website standout among a mess of “noisy” websites (say sorry to the “noisy” websites).

There are lots of factors that will impact the signal: background noise, interference from the other communications signals, reflection for buildings, Doppler effects… To pick up the best signal is hard.

There are lots of factors that will impact the rank and traffic of my dear website CWW (www.challengesworldwide.com): the other similar charities’ website, the agencies which also work on professional volunteer recruiting, the NOGs who are working on changing the situation in developing country. Purely focus on the SEO issues, these are the interferences, just like the interferences in the MIMO system. But what I think we should say thanks to all of these NGOs, they are tending to make our world better and better.

The things become much more interesting. SEO are not only changing the CPC in Adwords, adding or modifying the keywords. After reading some the experienced SEOrs’ blogs, I found that SEO seems like a systematic project.

The reason for the above conclusion is that the SEO result is effect by a serial of aspects which can be separated into two categories:

ON PAGE FACTORS

Rss Feeds

Validation Errors

URL Canonicalisation

ALT Tags

Duplicate Content

Keywords Densities

Content

Latent Semantec Indexing (LSI)

Sitemap

Site Architecture

Meta Tags

URL structure

OFF PAGE FACTORS

Video Distribution

Blog Commenting

Forums

Social Media distribution

Articles & Article Distribution

Blog Articles

One way link

Paid directory submissions

Free directory submissions

Analytics Report

Lots of new words… Actually, I even have not heart some of them at all before. What we have done for the CWW (www.challengesworldwide.com) are adjusting keywords density, adding Meta tag, adding sitemap, writing blogs and media distributing. Among these options, I think media distributing is the most effective one. Thanks to Hannah’s hard working on posting positions on Linkedin (http://www.linkedin.com/groups?about=&gid=2144095&trk=anet_ug_grppro) and Charity jobs (http://www.charityjob.co.uk/myspace). Still we need time to observe the effect of the other options.

What can be done in the next stage would be Rss Feeds, Validation Errors, Free directory submissions. To be honest, I am still doubt about the effects of these options, after all SEO is not like the science, more often, it is like tricky.

Anyway, to help CWW, the Scottish leading volunteer agency to recruit professional people to help in developing country, to improve the online penetration is a unique experience.

My Adwords account is belong to “Google Grant Programme” which is promoted by Google to support NGOs to achieve their marketing target. In this programme, Google give NGOs some free Ads opportunities. Of course, there are some constraints on this kind of account:
1.	The maximum cost per click (CPC) that a Google Grantee is able to choose is $1.00 and some keywords may not be available at this amount
2.	Monthly “ad spend” will be capped at $10,000

But some thing happened strange this morning. When I opened my Adwords account, I found that I can increase my CPC as much as I want, $1, $2, … , $9, …. Google changed its policy on Grant Account?

Increase CPC as much as I want! It seems great? The answer is definitely uncertain. The second strange phenomenon I found this today is that CTR become extreme low while the Impressions keep in the same level (compare with the previous record). Why this happened? Other is that because SEOrs increased their CPC in the first time when the new policy released or Google update their algorithm? Just wait for the response from Adwords Group.
